Getting Your Skin Ready for Beach Season

With the weather heating up, it’s time to swap out your sweaters and scarves for shorts and bikinis. But, before you head to the beach, you need to make sure your skin is prepared. Follow these tips for getting your skin ready for beach season.
- Exfoliate – Winter often leads to dry, cracked skin. To promote a healthy summer glow, you need to exfoliate your skin. Scrub your body using a sugar scrub or store-bought body scrub a couple times a week to remove dry skin. Make sure you are showering with cold water because a hot shower can irritate your scrubbed skin
- Pamper yourself – Before you break out your favorite sandals, treat yourself to a pedicure. A pedicure will rid your feet of rough, cracked skin and leave them looking fresh and rejuvenated. While you're at the salon, also consider getting your legs and bikini area waxed. If you prefer shaving over waxing, switch out your old razor for a new one. A dull razor can deliver a bad shave and also cause irritation and razor burn.
- Get sun-kissed skin – Once you exfoliate, wax and get your nails done, it's time to give yourself a safe, bronzed tan with an airbrush tanning solution. You can use self-tanner at home or treat yourself to an airbrush tan at the salon. Safe and relatively inexpensive, an airbrush tan will give you the sun-kissed skin you want for the beach.
- Wear Sunscreen – Protect yourself from the sun's harmful UV rays by applying sunscreen all over your body prior to going out in the sun. Start from your feet and work your way upward, all the way up to your hairline. Also, wear a cute sun hat and UV-protection sunglasses to shield your scalp and eyes from the sun.
